What Tradie Base does
Tradie Base connects to your ServiceM8 account with read-only access and runs an audit of how your account is set up and used. You get a Health Score out of 100, scores across seven areas (Setup, Workflow, Forms, Operations, Commercial, Automation and AI Readiness), and a prioritised list of findings and recommended actions.
Tradie Base never creates, changes or deletes anything in your ServiceM8 account.
Getting started: create your account
- Click Free Audit in the top menu, or install Tradie Base from the ServiceM8 Add-on Store.
- Enter your first name, last name, business name, email and a password (at least 8 characters), then click Create account.
- Already have an account? Click “Already have an account? Sign in” and use your email and password.
- Once you're signed in you're taken straight to the ServiceM8 connection step.
Connecting ServiceM8
- On the Connect your ServiceM8 page, click Connect ServiceM8. If you came from the ServiceM8 Add-on Store, this happens automatically after you sign in.
- You'll be taken to ServiceM8's own sign-in page. Sign in with your ServiceM8 login — Tradie Base never sees your password.
- Review the permissions and click Allow. Tradie Base only asks for read access to your business details, jobs, customers, staff, schedule, forms, materials and payments.
- You're returned to Tradie Base and see “ServiceM8 Connected ✓” with your business name.
Each connection is linked to one ServiceM8 account. Only people signed in to your Tradie Base account can see its results.
Configuration
There's nothing to configure. The audit automatically looks at the last 12 months of activity in your ServiceM8 account. If a permission isn't granted or ServiceM8 doesn't return some data, that area is scored as neutral and flagged in your report instead of failing.
For the most accurate results, sign in to ServiceM8 as an admin user when connecting and allow all requested permissions.
Running an audit
- With ServiceM8 connected, click Run My Free Audit.
- A progress screen shows each step: connecting, collecting data, reviewing jobs, workflows, forms, operations and automation, analysing, and building your report.
- Most audits finish within a few minutes. You can leave the page and come back — the audit keeps running.
Reading your report
Health Score: your overall score out of 100 with a label from High Priority to Excellent, plus a confidence rating based on how much data was available.
Category scores: seven cards showing where your setup is strong and where it needs attention.
Findings: each finding shows its severity, the evidence from your account, why it matters and what we recommend.
Automation and AI opportunities: ideas that use ServiceM8's own features, with anything needing an outside tool clearly labelled.
Recommended actions: grouped into Fix, Automate and Explore, in priority order.
Past audits
Open View past audits from the connect page to see every audit you've run and reopen any report. Run a new audit at any time to track your progress.
Asking for help with your results
From a report you can request help from a Tradie Base specialist. Your request includes your Health Score so we can respond with relevant advice. This is optional — the audit and report are free to use on their own.
Disconnecting and deleting your data
- Go to the Connect your ServiceM8 page and click Disconnect ServiceM8. Your stored ServiceM8 access is deleted immediately and Tradie Base can no longer read your account.
- You can also remove access from within ServiceM8 at any time.
- To delete your Tradie Base account and all audit results, email hello@tradie-base.com.au.
Your data and security
Access is read-only. Connection keys are encrypted and never shown in the browser. Personal details such as customer names, addresses and phone numbers are dropped as soon as data is collected. Only summarised figures are used to write your report.
